Dr. Alyson Smith is a chartered clinical psychologist based in Cardiff, South Wales who specialises in the assessment and treatment of a range of addictions and addictive behaviours including:
- drug dependence/problematic use (e.g. cannabis, cocaine, amphetamine, heroin, prescription medications (e.g. diazepam), over the counter medications such as co-codamol)
- alcohol dependence/abuse
- problems with gambling
- compulsive internet use
- pornography
- sexual addiction
- smoking cessation
Dr. Smith is a chartered clinical psychologist specialising in addictions and adult mental health and has over ten years research and clinical (NHS) experience. She currently divides her time between private clinical practice and academic life as a senior lecturer at the Cardiff Metropolitan University. She also undertakes work as an expert witness in the family courts.
